The American Thyroid Association recommends that a TSH test be used every five years to screen all adults older than age 35 for thyroid disease. Other organizations recommend that all women over 50, all adults over 60 even if they exhibit no symptoms, those persons at high risk for thyroid disorders, and pregnant and postpartum women all be tested.
