When having my semen analyzed for fertility tests, how long should I abstain from sex beforehand?

Semen analysis in fertility testing is greatly affected by the collection method. Ideally, you should wait for 3 to 5 days after an ejaculation before giving a sample. A sperm sample given less than 3 days after an ejaculation will have a low sperm count and a sperm sample given after 5 days may cause a decrease in sperm motility.
