What the cholesterol count should be?
According to RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) the levels of cholesterol can be categorized based on the severity. Ideally, cholesterol level in blood should be less than 5mmol/l. When it ranges between 5 to 6.4mmol/l it is referred to as mildly high cholesterol level. It is moderately high when it ranges between 6.5 to 7.8mmol/l. Though, very high cholesterol levels are considered as above 7.8mmol/l. A total cholesterol count of 200 mg/dL at the age of 20 years is marked as above the desired levels. In USA alone, around 41.3 million people (~1 in 5 adults) have reported to have a total cholesterol count of 240 mg/dL, which is significantly more than the desired levels!
