What other kinds of hepatitis infection are there?
In addition to hepatitis C, there is also hepatitis A and B. Hepatitis A is most commonly transmitted by being in contact with an infected person and by consuming water and/or food that is contaminated with hepatitis A. Hepatitis A is usually recovered from within 6 months with no major health issues. Hepatitis B is transmitted via blood and other body fluids. 90% of those infected with hepatitis B are able to recover, but a chronic infection can cause cirrhosis and liver cancer if not treated. Vaccines are available for hepatitis A and B, but not hepatitis C.
