What is the definition of being above the legal limit for drinking?
This refers to the limit on how much alcohol level may be present in your system before you are liable for legal penalties for intoxication while driving a car or other vehicle. Your alcohol level is generally tested via a blood or breath test. Most states have set the legal limit at 0.08% for drivers who are 21 years or older while those under 21 are not permitted to operate a vehicle with any amount of alcohol in their system. Commercial drivers, airline pilots and other professions have lower limits set as well. Note that the legal limit does not determine whether a vehicle can be operated safely, but rather determines if you can be prosecuted for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol if the limit is exceeded. Before drinking alcohol, you should determine if it is safe and/or appropriate for you to be drinking alcohol in the situation you are in.
