Amnesia is partial or total loss of the memory and is known to be caused by a drug called Ambien which belongs to a class of sedative hypnotics. When this occurs, a person may not remember what has happened for several hours after taking the medicine. Some people using Ambien have also experienced unusual changes in their thinking and/or behavior. Amnesia is also called "blackout" or "wash-out".
