What Do Aspirin and the Statin Drugs Do?
Aspirin is an antiplatelet and anti-inflammatory drug. As a result it reduces the blood CRP levels. Statins are well-known to reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes as well as recurrent events. Statins work mainly by lowering LDL cholesterol levels and C-Reactive Proteins. They are currently prescribed for patients with known heart disease, high LDL cholesterol and diabetes.
