What does having high level of calcification of my prostate mean and why does it happen?
The prostate is simply a gland which produces the nutrients for sperm. All glands suffer from calcification at some point in their career. Women have the same problem with their breasts. Anywhere you have lots of blood sloshing through along with a high secretion rate, calcium can build up in the ducts or arteries. It can result from infection or inflammation - prostatitis. This is not important so long as any infection has been dealt with. There is no good evidence that calcification of the prostate increases your risk from cancer.
