- Hi, my deceased grandmother was adopted. Recently, we have uncovered information that pointed us to the identity of his biological father. Unfortunately, the alleged biological father is deceased as well, and his remaining family is another daughter whose name we were luckily able to obtain for reference. The thing is, the other daughter has a different birth mom from my grandma. What might be the possibility to know for sure that my deceased grandmother and her living half-sister have the same biological father?
- Is it possible to differentiate the father of a child when there is doubt among members of the same family? I mean, if the father could be between one man and his nephew, or a brother, even a cousin.
- My father passed away 15 years ago and I kept a few strands of his hair sealed in a zip-lock plastic bag since he passed. I have this gut feel that my father isn't my biological father - though my mother more than once dismissed any suspicions I have. Nevertheless, there's just something inside me that isn't convinced. Would it be possible to perform a DNA test using the hairs strands I've kept?
- My grandfather was a very astute man until he reached the age of 70 wherein he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Once he went out of the house, started roaming around the neighborhood and got lost. My dad, mum, aunt, and I looked for him and after several hours found him sitting in the gutter with dirty clothes near a local supermarket. I've read in many online references that the disease can be inherited. I am only 25 and perfectly active and healthy, but I am also concerned if I might have inherited a genetic mutation that causes Alzheimer's. What are my options for knowing for sure?
- I believe to have found my biological father who, unfortunately, has passed away last year. Since I can no longer do a paternity test with him, would it be possible to find out about our biological relationship if a DNA test is performed between one of his daughters and me? We have different mother so I'm not sure how to proceed. Will the DNA swab test work and how accurate will it be?
