Can I submit toothbrushes for DNA testing?

Yes toothbrushes can be used for paternity testing. The success rate of this testing is 75% compared to a success rate of 99% for either buccal or blood. There is an additional $150 charge on top of the $199 purchase price for a 2 person non-legal paternity test for a total of $349 plus the shipping fees.

In order to submit the toothbrushes they must be used recently (we suggest that they are used the day the sample is submitted) and must be allowed to air dry for at least 1 hour after use. In order to submit the samples to the lab the toothbrushes must be submitted in a paper envelope or bag (please note they must be submitted in separate envelopes/bags) and sealed with provided tamper seals (these will arrive with your test kit). If the toothbrushes are not submitted in this way the laboratory will be unable to test the samples. A special notice we must inform you of is that we cannot unconditionally guarantee successful analysis of these samples. The laboratory will make every attempt to provide you with the results you require.
