Are UTIs and yeast infections caused by the same thing?

UTI and yeast infections are very different from one another. There is a common kind of yeast (Candida) that can infect the vagina, but it doesn’t usually infect the urinary tract. The irritation caused by a yeast infection may feel like a UTI, but it’s not the same. UTIs are caused by bacteria in the urinary tract (urethra, bladder, ureters, and kidneys). Similarly, the bacteria that cause UTIs don't usually cause vaginitis. Why do I seem to get UTIs more often than other people?
